The international name for Iberians people is the greek term Iberes (βηρες) to indicate all the ancient European peoples living in the actual iberica peninsula since around 10.000 years ago, even along the western coasts of the Mediterreaean Sea and the Balearic Islands: they were coeval of Illyrians, Italics and ancient Greeks at the Neolitich age and shared the "cardium pottery" culture, while they developed a more specific "La Almagra pottery" culture in the region of Andalusia and southern Portugal.
But who were the iberians? They came probably from Anatolia area and introduced the agrarian model of society in Europe, together with new animals to breed and stuff to handcraft, tools and foods typical of that age. They built many ancient cities (became aeternitas of the history of european integration) like Huesca, Tarragona, Girona, Cordoba, Segovia, Sagunto and Catalayud in the eastern area of Iberia, while probably there were more ancient settlements in Baezia, Cadiz and Murcia in southern peninsula. Iberians were interested by influences of other people such as Assyrian, Hittite and Egyptian on the styles of Iberian sculpture during the Bronze age, thanks to the intensive tradings, while Greeks and Poenichians built colonies some time later respectively in Empuries, Rhode/Rosas and Hemeroskopeion, even in Malaga, Abdera and Cartagena. That cultural tradition preserved nowadays is certainly the cult of the bull and the bullfighting practiced in rounded arenas or among the streets of Pamplona during the Festival of San Fermin.
There are many traces of the ancient presence of Iberians in Britain, especially in the megalitichs monuments still existing in the southern country, like the Stonehenge site, as well as in western France and mediterranean area, where they still used to move and trade during the celtic age: the Iberians and the Celts meeting produced a new European people since the VI century BC, the ethnic group of so called "Celiberians" that substitued the indigenous probably went extinguisched. When Romans conquered the whole area at the end of the Punic Wars and within the I century BC, the celtiberians settelements gave name to the provinces of Tarraconensis, Baetica and Lusitania where had been founded the new civitas of Astorga, Leon and Zaragoza.
Nothing is known about Iberians phenotype but the brown or dark hair with large percentage of brown eyes of the recent people living in the southern Iberic Peninsula, tipically of the Caucasian anthropologic human group, while their originary spoken language had been substituted by Latin and Spanish together with the ancient classic greek-roman christian culture during Middle Age. Anyway the Iberians tribes of Bastetani, Contestani, Edetani, Ilercavones, Indegetes and Lacetani together with the Tartessian civilty had been a significant human element of the Spain cultural estate as of course of the history of european integration.
