Croatia is an aeternitas of the history of european integration that will have influence on the future of Europe. The name given by the inhabitants is REPUBLIKA HRVATSKA applying the official national languages of Serbo-Croatian (belonging to he group of Slavic family) spoken by the citizens who today live in the presidential Republic of Croatia, together with the large minorities of Serbians, Slovenians, Albanians, Hungarians and Italians (in Istria region) speaking Albanian, Hungarian, Italo-Dalmatian&Istiot.
Croatia is situated in southern Europe along the Dinaric Alps: it overlook westward on the Adriatic sea and confines on North with Slovenia and it's separated from Hungary by the course of Drava river at East where the borders continue with Serbia, while at South it confines with Montenegro and for the rest it encompasses Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its territory is pevalent montainous along the coasts and in Istria region where Dinaric Alps chains give origin to many rivers (Una, Kupa, Sava, Drava) descending the long valleys toward east and all tributaries of the Danube river and othes erupting into the sea. The north side of country is a fertil plain disfruted for intensive agricultur favorited by the light continental internal climate, while the hotter mediterranean weather is optimal for touristic activities all along the seaside in Dalmatia and the hundreds islands.
The history of Croatia started with the first settlements of Illyrians people (as you can read in this article) who lived free until the conquest of Romans in I century BC, after then within the reform of Augustus (see Roman Empire), Croatia was included into the Dalmatia and Pannonia provinces that with the reform of Constantine I (see Christian Empire) became part of the Illyricum diocesi. That political situation was confirmed during the Byzantine Empire even at the time of the invasion of Slavs in VI century AD who occupied that land and integrated with previous European peoples already living. But who are the Croatians? The inhabitants of Croatia when was instituted as Duchy of Panonska e Dalmatinska in 845 AD under Byzantine Empire and ruled by Trpimirovic dinasty, who in 925 AD founded the Kingdom of Croatia remained independent until the conquest of Magyars in 1091 AD
Croatia became part of the Kingdom of Hungary-Croatia-Slovenia ruled by the Arpad dinasty until 1463 AD, when it was invaded by Turks then conquested and annexed sixty years later to the Reich Empire and succeeding Austria-Hungary Empire until the end of the First World War: when Croatia was included into the Kingdom of Serbs, Croatians and Slovenians ruled by the Karageorgevic dinasty and succeeding Kingdom and federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
As long as happened an important event of the whole history of european integration: the Yugoslavia state dissolved after a fierce civil war among people brothers and used to live together since centuries! Croatia got independent in 1992 AD and poned its capital in Zagreb, one of the cities founded by Croatians (together with Vukovar, Sibenic, Rovinj) when settled in VI century AD, aside the ancient celtic city of Rijeka or illyric towns of Porec, Pula and Zadar, or the roman castra of Sisak, Osijek, Solin and Split (famous to have been the palace-town of the emperor Diocletian), whereas survived the anciemt greek colony became venetian republic of Dubrovnik/Ragusa and the turkish fortress of Karlovac. Nowadays the Republic of Croatia is adiminstrated by counties (Bjelovar-Bilogora, Brod-Posavina, Dubrovnik-Neretva, Istria, Karlovac, Koprivnica-Krizevci, Krapina-Zagorje, Lika-Senj, Medimurje, Osijek, Pozega-Slavonia, Primorje-Gorski kotar, sisak-Moslavina, Split-Dalmatia, Sibenik-Khin, Varazdin, Virovitica-Podravina, Vukovar-Srijem, Zadar, Zagreb, City of Zagreb) and is a member of European Union since 2013 AD and recently the Croatia currency is Euro.
