North Macedonia is an aeternitas of the history of european integration that will have influence on the future of Europe. The name given by the inhabitants is REPUBLIKA MAKEDONIJA with the official national language of Macedonian (belonging to the group of Slavic family) spoken by the citizens who today live in the parlamentary Republic of North Macedonia, together with the minorities of Albanians speaking Albanian.
North Macedonia is situated in southern Europe in the central side of the Balkans: it confines on North with Serbia, at West with Albania, on South with Greece and at East with Bulgaria. Its territory is mostly mountainous along the Balkans made of ripid high valleys sourrounding the the Vardar river, originating in the Sar chain and crossing all the country before to erupt into Aegean Sea. In North Macedonia are present three great lakes on the borders: divided with Albania are Lake Ohrid, one of most great and ancient of Europe and so rich of animal species to be enlisted in the UNESCO Wordl Heritage, whose tributary is a subterranean river coming from the other, the great Lake Prespa important centre for biodiversity in the world; the Doiran Lake on the edge with Greece. The climate is temperate hot and dried all year, with intense snowy precipitations and fresh summers.
The history of North Macedonia started with the first settlements of Illyrians (as you can read in this article) who had been followed along the ancient times by the Albi Gens and the Ghegs tribes of Albanians. They were included into the Macedonian Kingdom ruled by the Argeadi dinasty (supposed to be descending from the greek hero Hercules) that in IV century BC conquered the whole Greece and leaded by Alexander "the great" defeated the Persian Empire. When he died North Macedonia became part of the Diadochi Kingdom of Macedonia ruled from 334 BC by Antipatridi and Antigonidi dinasties until in 168 BC when Romans conquered the whole Greece.
Within the reform of Augustus (see Roman Empire), North Macedonia was included into the Macedonia province that with the reform of Constantine I (see Christian Empire) became part of the Macedonia diocesi. At the falling of Western Roman Empire, North Macedonia remained within the Byzantine Empire posessions, inserted into the Thessalonike theme as part of the Moesia diocesi until it was conquered by Bulgars in IX century AD and annexed to the Bulgarians Empire under Kzar Simeon I until 1018 AD.
Once reconquested by the Byzantine Empire, North Macedonia was annexed to Kingdom of Serbia in 1083 AD until the conquest of Turks (1371 AD): at the end of the balcanic independence wars it was included into the Kingdom of Serbs, Croatians and Slovenians ruled by the Karageorgevic dinasty and succeeding Kingdom and federal Republic of Yugoslavia. At the end of its dissolution process North Macedonia got independent in 1993 AD as former jugoslavia Republic Macedonia with capital in Skopje and as flag the "Virgo Star" used by Alexander. There has been a great diplomatic conflict with Greece about the name and the history of this new nation, so what's the difference between Macedonia and North Macedonia?
