Monaco is an aeternitas of the history of european integration that will have influence on the future of Europe. The name given by the inhabitants is PRINCIPATO DI MONACO with the official national languages of Italian and French (belonging to the group of Italic family) spoken by the citizens who today live in the premiership Principality of Monaco, together with the residents of others European peoples speaking also English. Monaco is situated in central-western Europe over the Alps: it look southward on the Ligurian Sea while is completely sourrounded by France. The territory of Monaco is mostly mountainous and the climate is typically mediterranean all year.
The history of Monaco started with the first settlements of Alpines people (as you can read in this article) who had been followed by the Italics then by the Allobrogi tribes of Celts during La Téne cultures epoch. They all had been submitted by Romans in II century BC and within the reform of Augustus (see Roman Empire) Monaco was included into the Narbonensis province, that with the reform of Constantine I (see Christian Empire) became part of the NovemPopuli diocesi.
At the falling of Western Roman Empire, that region was conquested by the german tribes of Westgoths who formed the Regna Ostrogotorum in 376 AD under the Amali dinasty, until the Franks defeated them in 509 AD and annexed Monaco to the Regna Francorum under rule of Merovingian dinasty: the Regna christianorum had been one of the turning point of the history of european integration because some times later they were crowned by the Christian Church of Rome then moved to annex the other regna and with the renovatio imperii reform of Charlemagne the land of Monaco entered the Carolingian Empire ruled directly by the Carolingian dinasty. When it was divided in 843 AD with the Verdun treaty, Monaco was included in the Regna Lotharingia (the eastern area over the Meuse-Moselle-Rhone line) remained under control of the Carolingians until 855 AD when Monaco became part of the Regna Provenza ruled until 933 AD by the Bosoni dinasty, then ceded to the Regna of Arles/Burgundy until 1033 AD when was annexed to Reich Empire.
Monaco was annexed to the Republic of Genoa as "Free Town" of the Empire instituted in 1250 AD, but in 1559 AD was conquered by the Kingdom of France and transformed in Duchy of Monaco enfeoffed to the genoan Grimaldi dinasty: they ruled the little fief until they got the definitive independence in 1814 AD as Principality of Monaco, whose capital Montecarlo became famous in XX century AD as seat of the "Monaco grand prix of F1" and residence of the richest men of the world!
